Practice Schedule: starts March 1 for pre-regatta races, March 29 for regatta season.
2010 Pre-regatta Iron Schedule: these races are between 9 and 12 miles with no water changes and are all scheduled for Saturdays. This season there have been some problems in getting permits for some of the races, leading to uncertainty in scheduling. When we have updated information we’ll post it.
2010 Regatta Schedule: starts May 23, race every Sunday except July 4 until the Hui Wa‘a and State championships, both held on Saturdays. This year States will be held at Ke‘ehi Lagoon.
Long Distance Race Schedule: water change races following regatta season, ranging from 18 to 41 miles, culminating in the Ka‘iwi Channel races in September and October.
All Race Schedules: this page displays all relevant race schedules for the paddling year.
Lōkahi does not participate in every long distance race that is scheduled. We usually enter crews in four or five pre-regatta events; Hui Wa‘a requires that we race in at least four of these events. We expect to enter four long distance races, including the Ka‘iwi Channel races, Na Wahine O Ke Kai and Moloka‘i Hoe.
To participate in distance races, both before and after the regatta season, you must pay your portion of each race’s entry fees. You will have to sign waivers and complete a crew list prior to the race for each distance race you paddle.
Postregatta distance races are somewhat more expensive because each crew needs an escort boat. Escort boat charges vary, typically running about $250 to $300 for O‘ahu races, and upwards of $600 for the Ka‘iwi Channel races.
