Winter Paddling/New Paddlers. Competitive and recreational members can continue to paddle OC6 through the off-season. If you’ve never paddled outrigger, this is a great time to try our sport with no stress or immediate obligation. Coach Wayne is working with new paddlers on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 pm. If you or your friends are interested in learning to paddle outrigger canoe, come down to the site on a Tuesday or Thursday and meet with Coach Wayne.

You don’t have to buy a paddle right away. We have practice paddles you can use. If you decide outrigger paddling is a sport you want to pursue, we’ll give you advice on how to choose a paddle. Check our page for new paddlers for more information.

Pre-season distance practice starts Monday, March 7 for men and Tuesday, March 8 for women. Men practice Monday and Wednesday, women Tuesday and Thursday.

We use the pre-season races to do an intense workout in race conditions as part of our early season training cycle. If you are interested in paddling long distance season after the regattas are finished, you should plan on coming out for these sessions.

Regatta practice starts the week of Monday, April 4. Men practice Monday and Wednesday starting at 5:45 pm. Women practice Tuesday and Thursday starting at 5:45 pm.

Long distance practice During the regatta season distance paddlers will practice on most Saturdays. During distance season we’ll continue the weekday schedule and schedule weekend practices to complement the various events leading up to the final distance races: Na Wahine O Ke Kai, September 25, and Moloka‘i Hoe, October 9.
